Our plans are coming along nicely and we’ve a new, fresh look this year. Our Guest Speaker is Sally Butcher, who is a prolific knitter and she runs a monthly knitting club in Bodmin. Sally’s main focus is on all makes and types of Japanese machines and she’ll talk about the huge presence of machine knitting on the internet. She’ll tell us how they set up the Beginners Group, talk about what they try to achieve and display some of their designs. She’ll also bring a laptop, to show us photos of many interesting projects completed. Having set up one of her machines, Sally will talk to you during the day whilst she sits and knits. Taunton members are busy knitting for the fashion show and they’ll have an extensive display of new items. This year’s focus for Ringwood members is to produce smaller items for the show. Members are knitting for prem babies at their local hospital as well as making hats, gloves, scarves and jumpers. Maureen will run our cloakroom in aid of Julia’s House and do come with a little extra in your purse. You’ll perhaps remember Phyllis and David Hilton, who demonstrated intarsia at the show several years ago. With their health failing it’s time for them to downsize, so David is donating lots of his personal intarsia sweaters for a charitable donation. Our Guest Speaker talks at around 11.00 am and the fashion show is in the afternoon around 2.00 pm. This year’s exhibitors included Andee Knits, Sally Butcher, Anne Croucher and the Knit Clinic, Bill King, Carbery Machine Knitting Club, new DesignaKnit 9, David Hampson from The Wool Cabin, Sue Castro, Elaine Cater with designer patterns, Fleet Machine Knitting Club, Machine Knitting Monthly also with Anjo Designs, Nina Miklin with designer books and yarn, Ringwood Machine Knitting Club, Taunton Machine Knitting Club, Rob Fountain and Uppingham Yarns. Watch this space as we update the details until the show.
